I have got a complete set of handbooks from 1966 with just a couple missing - have lugged them from house to house but now they are free to a good home

Hi......before you 'pass them on' can I just run a check please that I've got all the info I need for the book. I was missing a couple of years (though I've now filled the gap that was 1975!)

Cheers
Dougal

If it helps I have all the year books from 1962 to 2013 except for 1981.
I also have a very old one for 1951.

Tony,

In a strange 'twist of fate' I've actually got better records for the late 1950s and early 1960s than I do for the decade 1995-2005! The only advantage is that I can more easily backfill on this period with 'primary sources' such as interviews and the like!

I have yearbooks from 1975 - 2002, plus assorted MR magazines/newsletters fron within these dates, looking for a good home. Are they of use to anyone?

I agree with Jeremy. If there is archive material available then the Class Association should be given first refusal.

Well I don't want everything. I can't keep magazines as there would just be too much, but all the old information is stored in those year books and at the moment the class records do not have any at all other than my personal collection which is sketchy at best!

I thought, given the enquiries I get, that it would be useful to have a back log of books. If possible I would like to get as close as possible to haveing an entire set.

Once I have Stuarts collection I will post the numbers of the missing ones and see if anyone can help. I have already had offers.

Jon, if you want any information from them, just drop me a line.

Shouldn't we be archiving the magazines as well? They give a totally different slant on class activities especially on what is going on at grass roots level rather than in the more rarified atmosphere at the top end of the class.

What sort of archive (if any) does Pat have?

See I had a senior moment and put my email address in the wrong place - please don't click on it - I get enough offers of blue pills and million pound windfalls already.

It would be great to keep the magazines as well, however to keep 60 years worth of magazines would take up my spare bedroom!! I and my futrue replacement just don't have the space keep all that. Besides, the magazines a re full of useful information for members, it is not always important historical information that would be of value in the future. The yearbooks are more important in my view.

If anyone would like to create a magazine archive on behalf of the class, I would be happy to back it, just not store it!

Whatever you do, don't throw the mags until we've investigated the possibilities of transferring these to a digital form. There are many companies out there who do this and if we have spare cash, this would be a good use.

Also there are universities which study societies and organisations. It might be possible to interest one of these in the mags.

I know that they will take up a lot of room but once dumped can never be recovered.

IMHO the mags are more interesting than the year books.

I have a feeling that I have probably got a complete set of magazines squirreled away from the late 1980's to now...just a question of finding them! Who did the Tubo cartoons (e.g. I like to sail a bit less pinched in this chop) way back then?

Hi.... if the magazines (as against the year books) are still available then "yes please"! I'm more than happy to hold onto them whilst completing the book, then if there is longer term solution, I'll hand them all on!

Thanks

Dougal

Dougal whose magazines are you after just now? I'm in New Malden on the SW edge of London which may not be the most convenient for you?
