I have just acquired Guydermee and would welcome any background information or photos on her before I start restoring her. When she was first build did she have hoop main or was it added at a later date?

I'd have thought the hoop would be a later addition, though it probably only predates the first hoops by a matter of months.

I presume by the name that it's an early Winderbox, beyond that i can't really help though others will be able to.

3050 was first owned by J Miller at Hollingworth Lake (1976/7) initially called"Full of Ashton Promise" but very soon changed to "Guydermee". A change of owner in 1982/3 to D Townsend at HLSC. By 1984 she had moved to Blithfield SC with J Spooner. A change of owner in 1988/9 to D Peace but still at Blithfield. In 1993 she had moved to Manor Park SC with A Easton who changed her name to "Winder Up". No further information after 1997.

Definitely won't have had a hoop when new they came in later around 1978. At Sheffield University we had a sister ship 3078 built for us which was I believe the first boat Guy Winder completed 'professionally' ie after resigning from his day job. 3050 will be one of the early 'Winderboxes' that he built as a very serious amateur just before that. I have some recollection that in her first year being sailed by Ian Dawson she suffered a split hog and had to go back to Guy for a modification but perhsps that was another winderbox?

I am the owner of 3078.  She is called Miss Laid.  In 2008 I won the Holt Plate with her at the Looe Nationals.  Awsome week.

She needs to move to a new owner now.  Any ideas?

Amazing she still has the original name-the last and least academic of a distinguished series of Sheffield University  "Miss......." wide merlins    (Miss Conception, Miss Carriage, Miss Anthropist, Miss Ogynist, Miss Spent Youth, Miss Laid).  Her 5th place at the inlands in 1981 (helm Ricky Tagg crew John Stokes) was the best ever champs result for Sheffield University.
