Hi. Hoping for some help. I have just inherited a 15ft wooden clinker built dinghy which I am told is a Merlin Rocket. I think the previous owner may have been a member of this club, but I'm not sure. I am keen to discover the history of the dinghy, (which i think is almost 30years old) and to re rig it and sail it. Any help or advice would be gratefully received.

Who?
One thing for sure if it is 15 feet long it is NOT a Merlin Rocket they are all 14 feet or less long (Mainly with a mm or two under!). Which club is "this" club would help, as would the registered number which should be carved into the centre thwart.

The other place to look for the boat number is carved into the hog between rear of the centreboard case and the stern.

I was wrong about the length it is just 14ft.. the engraved number is 904, which is also on the sail.

This Merlin was built in 1959 by Wyche & Coppock, Nottingham to Proctor Mk.XI design and named "Scandale". She seems to have spent most of her life at clubs in the Midlands/Birmingham area.
