Caroline

The calendar shows the RN & S meeting on Sunday as a sea event but the NOR shows that is a restricted event. Would you please clarify.

Hi Peter,

Waveney and Oulton Broad YC is on saturday and is a restricted event.

Royal Norfolk and Suffolk YC is on Sunday and is a sea event.

There are two silver tillers over this weekend at two different location that are very close together.

I hope that clears up any confusion.

Please could you enter these two events to help the host clubs organise. Its a great chance to get two of your Silver Tiller events in on one weekend!

A note from the organisers:

Hello Merlin sailors, we are hosting a silver tiller event for you in less than two weeks time at Oulton Broad and on the sea at Lowestoft. So far, no one has entered and yet we have 20+ volunteers giving up their bank holiday weekend so that you can sail. Please can you enter as soon as possible so that we know if its worth going ahead. We look forward to welcoming you. Jenny

Some more information this weekend

Dinner Saturday night

All sailors are encouraged to book dinner at the Royal Norfolk & Suffolk Yacht Club on saturday night. They have put a lovely menue together and two courses +tea and coffee for £20. Ive been informed that there is no better place to eat in Lowersoft so please book your tickets by Friday at the latest as the caterers need to order in the food. Just ring up the club to book

Logistics

If they are staying at RNSYC, they can leave the boats in the dinghy/car park, which is secure. Its 10 mins drive to WOBYC. If you go straight to WOBYC, you need to drive into the Nicholas Everitt Park and take the boat through to the dinghy park and leave it tucked away. This is not secured. The car park is pay and display, its free after 6pm.

Veronica will be at the Wobyc dinghy park to meet and greet early on Saturday morning. There will be bacon rolls and tea and coffee at the clubhouse from 9am and a buffet lunch. Some cash in pockets will help us. I hope this all helps. It has been Oulton Week this week so there will be plenty of people around on Friday evening.

Im not staying at the RNSYC this weekend but I am sailing both events.  Is it possible to leave the boat at RNSYC overnight?  If not is there somewhere at WOBYC, as the 2 clubs are very close together and it will save me trailing to well the other side of Norwich and back.

Hi Andrew,

That should be fine, boats can be dropped off from Friday (either at WOBYC or RNSYC) and all boats will go over to RNSYC after prizegiving on saturday evening ready for racing on sunday. Unfortuantely we cannot sail them there and they will have to be towed from WOBYC to RNSYC. I hope that makes sense.

What a fantastic weekends sailing, tricky and shifty on the lovely water of Oulton Broad, then 3 open water races out on the North Sea.  First class organisation and race management all weekend.

Many thanks to everyone involved in putting this on.

Ross
I have copies of the race sheets if you need them.
Also, whoever does the classic / vintage results might need them as they have all the timings needed for working out the handicaps.  Who might that be?
Cheers, Dan Alsop

WOBYC RESULTS
Ive just looked through the official results and note that they are based on corrected times - obviously not right for the ST rankings.  The elapsed times are listed so you can correct the errors. As my  old boat has a handicap advantage over newer ones this will put me down a place in both R1 and R2 and there are no doubt other corrections to make.

Hi Dan,

The ones on the WOB website are corrected times and as you say not right for the ST. Caroline and I have manually gone through and updated these, hence the delay in getting them up. The ones on the MR website are correct. If you spot any errors on the MR results section please let us know.

The Classic and vintage results have been uploaded too, these were kindly done by Nicola and Stuart.
