Topic : New Website

Wow we have it! A bit scary not having that old familiar site that we all know and love but I am sure we can get used to this new wizzy one

Ok, so to post a reply you either have to use the Log In that worked on the "old" site for reading "member's only" material or Register a new Username/password. Well done the IT team. Looking forward to getting out the Champs info on the new toy. PS - get your entries in. Only 8 days till the early discount ends

To get to the Champ's site - select Fixtures/National Champs from the top menu

Glad people are finding their way onto the new site. Please get yourselves registered and let us know any feedback.

It is inevitable there will be some teething troubles but we will endeavour to resolve them as quickly as possible.

Good to see the new look and layout.  Two questions though...

Where are the regional circuit results tables, e.g. Thames Series?
It appears that a lot of threads are missing or incomplete/not up to date, notably those on the recent Thames SC and Minima YC Thames Series open meetings.  Are they going to be imported from the old site?

I am still copying over quite a few parts of the old website and integrating, so they should become available soon hopefully.
You lot are quite active so its quite difficult to copy content over when its continually being added to.

There is a huge library of information and the active content like the for sale section, forum posts, etc. to be carried over from the last few days/weeks, i'll hopefully now be able to slot these into the correct places.

Forum will gradually evolve, so you'll be able to add images within posts soon and stuff like that.

Please let me know of any problems in the meantime and i'll try and get them sorted asap.
Regards
Chunks

Wow!! The website looks awsome!! Well done everyone involved. I obviously need to update my profile but it looks easy enough to navigate around the site, and I am a total technafobe!

The only thing I would point out is that the forsale list is now totally out of date as I guess it was imported a couple of months ago. I would think you know that though and it will get updated.

Really impresive stuff.

OK, I kept getting errors thrown up at me when I posted which I could not read against the dark back ground on the screen. I kept taking little bits of my post out and trying again but still got the error.

So I gave up and looked again and they are all on here!!! So I am not going mad!

Jeremy, what error were you receiving?

Firstly great job - looks fresh and up to date - will quickly get used to the new workflow.

re: teething trouble,
I updated my profile and found my new name was Duncan Salmon - if anyone's got my name can I have it back please? the membership number and email address were correct.

Secondly I've tried to post a for sale ad and its been uploaded prior to being accepted - it mentioned a personal space for when I need to modify the advert - which I do already- but can't find the personal space referred to? maybe this is still in progress
still exploring.....

Really! that shouldn't happen.

I am currently copying across quite a few of the updates from the last month or so, so these items should appear in the correct spaces soon.

Please bear with me for today, so i can get us as close to up to date as possible for the for sale section and forum at least.

Not a problem for me at all - bound to need a shake down for a while to get the bugs out - the ability to put images in posts opens up a lot of possibilities too,

I must admit I was sceptical but the look and feel is great and anything lost with the forum not being as concise should easily be made up for in the additional functionality. One thing I've noticed on PC using Internet Explorer the profile pictures come up huge making it difficult to read the text, which after all is what we're really after. Doesn't appear to be a problem accessing via the mobile site using Chrome though.

Looks great everyone! Thanks to all involved! :-)

Hi Mark, all the information from the previous forum should be here in this one, it could just do with someone doing some organising to put the useful stuff in to specific categories, etc.
I've changed the code slightly for the profile pictures on the forum, is it any better now?

It'll take a bit of getting used to!

Photos for Salcombe 2009 and 2010 looks strangely similar...  I've not checked other years

Thanks for the initial positive feedback

Job one was to improve the image as this is the front door for the class

Lots of work to do on the content, which is next stage of the improvement.  We will continue to bring over historical information from the old site and then provide some refresh on content which has not been updated for some time.

Please keep flagging any issues you find

For the future we are building a list of developments...on line payment....boat register....all ideas welcome

What time scale for the forum to have latest comments added from the old one? Notice e.g.Vintage Merlin topic still at 90 responses when old forum was showing 110. I'm not complaining, I know it is a lot of work: just wondered.

Hi All, the structure of this forum is slightly different to your previous one in that you can organise your posts into certain categories, e.g. Events, etc.
So if you have an event related post, post into the Events board and not the general discussion board.
Everyone will get notified via email (if they have that selected in the profile settings) wherever you post, so it shouldn't get missed.

If you do post everything to the General Discussion board then it will disappear from view after a while because it only displays the latest 60 topics.
You can obviously search for posts as well but its a good way of building your knowledge base up, especially for new people a structure helps quite a bit.
Thanks

Something for the snagging list once the important things are done - a hyperlink box for the For Sale adverts - link to Flickr for example?

Yowser!  Logged on to the website this morning whilst sitting at my desk with a mug of coffee; it gave me such a start that the coffee went all over  the desk instead of down my throat!

Now that I've had a chance to have a good look, I think you've done a great job. Plenty of bits to tidy up but the overall look and feel is really good, even if I couldn't remember my login details from the old site and had to re-register.  It'll be fun to see how the new site develops over the next couple of weeks (or months!)

Great new website.
The forum should get going again when a few more of the regulars manage to get registered.
I didn't get an email when I first tried to register but when I tried again today it said I was already registered and I got an email straight away.
So keep trying as I enjoy reading all your posts!
