Topic : Space Illusion

Good morning guys,
Just wondering if anyone can help me. I have just purchased a Merlin Rocket called 'Space Illusion' but she has no sail number and I can't find it anywhere on the boat. Does anyone have a clue what it is???

Would appreciate any help at all

Thanks

Genty

MROA Yearbook says Space Illusion is 3124. A Smokers Satisfaction design, built by Bob Hoare of Christchurch in 1978.
Welcome to the class.
Where are you going to be sailing?

Thank you so much for the info and the warn welcome. I have her in the garage in Henley on Thames at the moment, bit of a project. When she is done though, I'll be sailing her at Henley sailing club and may even get her out on the water at Salcombe!

Genty,

Welcome! I have MR 3165 which is also a Smokers Satisfaction although a highly modified one now. However, if you want to look at one or have any questions let me know. I am in Maidenhead so only just down the road. You can reach me on jeremydeacon at sky dot com or via the second hand link on here.

Thanks Jeremy. It may be quite helpful having a look at one as the guys that I bought it off of took the whole thing apart and didn't label anything, plus I haven't had one before so will be good to have an idea where to start.

No Mr. Croft, it's number 1 son Chris. He's still rockin the N12. I just fancied a change and ended up buying a project but should be fun! I'm going to take loads of pics as I go and post them so you can see how I'm getting on.

Hi Chris,

Welcome to the Merlin Rocket class! If you are sailing on the river I'd keep it simple for now, you won't believe how complicated the rig is on the modern boats! I've sorted out a couple of older Merlin's so drop me an e-mail if you have any questions ([email protected]), also, you'll find plenty of wisdom and experience on this forum..
Tell your Dad to get one! HSC could host an open meeting!!

Cheers, Dave
