MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Draycote ST 21st & 22nd September. Open. Midland.

Entry for this event is now open on the Draycote Water Sailing Club website.
This event is the penultimate Open category for this years Silver Tiller, as well as part of the Midland circuit.

As Draycote do not allow tents (although you can book for a camper van on site) and they dont offer an evening meal, it has been suggested to meet up at The Green Man pub in nearby Long Itchington, Southam for a social Saturday evening for those that are interested, where there is also a reasonable amount of accommodation available locally.

PLEASE ENTER!
Early entry closes this Wednesday, with another £10 for late entry.
That aside, Draycote have indicated that they need a minimum of 20 boats for the event to be viable.
If youre intending to go, can you please enter asap please or we are at risk of the event being cancelled!

I tried to register for the Draycote event two or three days ago and the website did not allow it. So I assumed they were accepting entries on the day in the old fashioned way! This evening I got a message from my son saying the event may be cancelled due lack of interest! So I would say the window for the £45 early bird entry has been quite small and it doesnt surprise me there are few entries so far.

I looked at the entry list late on Monday evening - 5 boats registered.  Clause 5.2 of the SIs (If the event is cancelled by the OA a refund less any costs incurred will be issued.) does not encourage early registration when there is doubt about the viabilty of the meeting, especially when there is no hint about what those cost might amount to.

Ive confirmed with Draycote that if 20 boats are not entered by close of Wednesday, and therefore a decision is made Thursday morning to cancel the event, then overhead costs will be avoided and full refunds for those entered will be given.

I trust this gives enough confidence to those on the fence to support the event and please get entered.

In regard to the comment about the duration of the early entry window, it has been open since 22nd Aug, which I think reasonable. However, please have a chat with me at the weekend to discuss any suggested improvements.

Draycote CANCELLED.

As advised, the minimum threshold of 20 boats entering by end of yesterday (12 entered) was not reached and therefore unfortunately the event is not viable.

For those that did enter you should receive an email today or tomorrow giving details for a full refund. If not received by Monday please contact Dave Rowe at Draycote, or let me know if struggling.
