MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Hollingworth ST Open (R) - 14th & 15th Oct

The good news for anybody who attended last year’s Merlin Rocket Open Meeting (and if you weren’t there, you missed a good weekend) is that this year the Lake will be at least 50% bigger, because after all that rain the Lake is now full!

For this year’s Hollingworth Lake Sailing Club Merlin Rocket Open Meeting on the 14th-15th Oct, there is however a slight twist.  For reasons that will probably be apparent when you attend the meeting, this year we will not be able to use our Sailing Club building that weekend.  So, we are using the large Hollingworth Lake Rowing Club (HLRC) clubhouse as the base for all the administrative, changing and refreshment and drinking arrangements.  This building is right next door to the dinghy park and harbour, which we will be using as normal for launching and dinghy parking.

The Notice of Race is on the HLSC website;

The entry fee is £35 and that includes afternoon tea on Saturday and lunch on Sunday.  (You get good value for money up north!)

On the Saturday night, we will have a 3-course meal in the HLRC Clubhouse, supplied by the same excellent team as last year, at a cost of £20.

As the evening meal is being prepared by outside caterers, we need to know the numbers of people who are wanting a meal.  So, if you are wanting a meal (a Spanish themed buffet) on the Saturday night could you please let Martin or Rene Watts know the number of meals you require by Mon 9th Oct.  Email to

Unfortunately, for this year as last year, we cannot say you can turn up on the day and then book an evening meal.
