Topic : Brading Champs 23 - 3rd update

Evening everyone. First, a bit of inspiration to get you in the champs mood! Wonderful video highlights from Mounts Bay:

A couple of things. Several of you have asked about how we came to select Brading as our venue. The reality is that post Covid there were far more classes looking for venues than clubs able to host. Our original venue for 23 pulled out and between Chris Martin and I we contacted around 30 clubs (including some very lateral ideas!) to see if they could accomodate us.  At the time the committee decided on BHYC there were no other confirmed offers to host us, and none emerged subsequently.

Secondly, on dates. We are wholly reliant on the combination of appropriate tides and the clubs ability to raise the volunteers required to run our event - so we did not have a choice of dates. We are very grateful to BHYC for hosting and confident we will have an excellent, family friendly week of sailing.

I promised an update on entry fees. Im pleased to confirm that Standard Entry will be £175, boats with either an under 25 helm, or crew £150, and for any boats where both helm and crew are under 25, £100. A substantial reduction on 2023, and underwritten by your association. A review of accomodation available shows that the vicinity of BHYC is approximately 30% cheaper than Marazion for comparable houses. We are hopeful that for most, this champs will be no more expensive than Mounts Bay.

We will aim to open entry ASAP after 1 January

Finally, Id draw everyones attention to the black friday ferry deal that expires on the next few days, I know Pete Slack secured a Thursday to thursday round trip today for £149!
