Topic : Blithfied Open & 2017 HD Sails Mid Circuit decieder

This Sunday its the Blithfied ST Open and will also be the Midland Circuit deciding event.
Having lost our clubhouse roof in a spring storm I am advised by the management that the repairs will be finished before this event and that the clubhouse will have: electricity, hot showers and lighting all of which have been absent for some months.
Hot lunches, Bacon rolls and tea and coffee will be available and of course the infamous Blithfield bar for those not driving!
The OD is ready, the galley cooks are ready, the clubhouse is ready all we need is you to come along and make it happen!
As for the HD Sails Midland Circuit
After the river event and Sunday lunch at Trent Valley sailing club Caroline Croft has been dislodged from the top of the HD Sails Midland circuit leader board on count back by Team Leney.
With two firsts from Banbury and Swarkstone Steve and Gill are in a commanding position, however with points tied at 11 with Caroline all is not yet over and should either team miss a trick this coming weekend at Blithfield Matt Biggs and Paul Hollis crewed all season by Paula Mason are just two points further back and waiting to pounce!
Chairman Chris is five points further back but could yet make the podium.

According to my year book it is 10 years since Steve Leney first won the Midland Circuit.

The Blithfield ST and Midland Circuit event this Sunday will decide who will be the winner of the 2017 HD Sails Midland Circuit

Currently a top the leader-board all Steve has to do is stay within 2 places of Matt Biggs & Paul Hollis and beat Caroline....

No pressure then Steve! unlike the forecast which is promising plenty of pressure which might just suit Matt & Paul more than Caroline & Steve.

Please do come along and enjoy  what is sure to be quite a spectacle and help us put or newly repaired club house showers and heating to the test!

First start not before 11:00
Briefing 10:15

A very windy day with more spectators than competitors. Impressive displays by all those who put their boats on the water.

Caroline's 2nd place (only finisher apart from Taxi) in the fiercely windy second race gives her an unassailable position in Merlin history- first Lady Helm to win the Midland Circuit.

Well done Caroline, particularly in persevering in the Brian storm at Blithfield!
