Topic : mast strut housing broken...

Anybody had a front buoyancy tank break whilst gybeing? I have an attachment strutAnybody had a front buoyancy tank break whilst gybeing? I have an attachment strut to the mast which goes through the for deck and housed just above the fwd buoyancy tank. Well mine now blew out. It was probably gusting 22 to 25 knots at the time and we gybe. Looked to me like the line that controls this strut gad come free of the small cleat and when we gybe to the mast which goes through the for deck and housed just above the fwd buoyancy tank. The boat is 3161 Winderbox I believe. Built 1979.

If this has happened to you please reply. I'm going to fix her up soon as she's such a great craft to sail!! Probably need to be a bit more delicate with her though from now on !

Sorry for the bad message before, it was from my mobile and i was having a bit of trouble with it.

If anyone has a winderbox of similar age please can you get in touch as i would like to chat with you. hopefully someone does have a similar boat and know what im talking about with the mast strut that stick through the fordeck and stops the mast going forward. Its a bar about 2ft long approx and attaches to the front of the mast about 1.5 ft up the mast from the deck stepped mast.
 Cheers.
