Can't seem to find any reports/results for: Ranelagh, Rutland or Cookham ...are they hidden somewhere or don't they exist?

It appears that nobody has written a report for those events. I did not get anything submitted to me personally, or via Y&Y. Not even a results link!

Hi All, Will be writing a report for Cookham and HISC, apologies for delay, just need to find the time. Thanks, Alex

I've hunted around for the latest open results online and will provide updated ST results later in the week. It would help if club reps could email the ST results directly to me. My thanks to those that do! Ross

Thanks - its all good PR for the class especially the training/open event at Rutland and the fantastic ladies results at Cookham. We didn't make Rutland, how may "classics" made it?

Hi All, I was going to write a report for Cookham but my Laptop hard drive packed up on Tuesday before I had the chance and I have only just got it back. I know Ross is doing the results but they don't seem to be posted on the Merlin Website anymore, or am I missing them? As a general point, this website seems significantly less user freindly and up to date than the old one, but maybe that is me being a techaphobe??

Yes I know what you mean - a lot less general chat and such lately. Perhaps Twitter and Facebook have taken over on that score? (I wouldn't know) - whatever happened to the Ancient Geek and associates? On the results/report side, it's a shame these are not always published, I relaise it's a chore (yes, done my share in the past) but it helps promote good turnouts and the class in general.

I think that the website will just take a little while to get the general chatter back, there's always going to be a lag while people get used to a new thing, lets face it the old site needed an upgrade. As for the reports/results I know that it is a real effort especially if the person needed to make it happen wasn't at the event. Once people have finished sailing they don't necessarily want to spend an hour and a half on the phone/computer sorting it out. What really makes it work is when a club class rep is on message, makes - currently- Alex's job much easier.

Would it work having a 'rule' where the Helm/Crew finishing in xth place writes a report? (has this been done before?) Could be a short or as long as that person likes, results can generally be found on club websites and added in. I guess this would work better with someone at the pointy end of the fleet doing the write ups as those of us with the horizon view don't always get the impression of whats going on up the front.

Another system that could work well, definitely. I've heard other classes do it this way - I'm not sure which- over to Alex and the committee...Even if it was someone who wasn't having such a good day, they could garner information from the front of the fleet quite easily in a friendly class like ours.

Problem is you are relying on the person to write the report. Great idea, but it inevitably comes back to the same people writing the reports.

HI Mags. Sorry I've not sent in a report for Midland. I'll get on to it straight away. Mike.

Mark - Only if it was the same person who finished in the same position at every open meeting, surely?
