I am buying my 2nd Merlin imminently and will be racing from Weston Sailing club. There will be 4 Merlins racing from here and wanted to know where the other ones are so that we could look at racing together potentially a few times over the season.

a minimum of three here at Netley; Ben&Roz McGrane in Dory, the Chapmans in Artemis and a renovated Smokers that will be doing classic events this year.

i'm also aware of other people who are 'looking' at the boat so there should be some in getting boats together.....

It would be good to all race together a few times over the year as between the clubs we have a good number and could build a good fleet in Southampton!

I have spoken to Weston and they are happy to host a couple of times if people all want to race together a few times over the year. If you want to spread the word that would be great with the boats at Netley.

We are holding a Pursuit (The Perisher) at Hayling Island SC on 16th Feb, and it looks as though we will be getting a good home turnout of Merlins.. we invite you to come and play for the day.

I am picking up 3396 at Easter to be sailed from Weston. 

Look forward to seeing some Merlins out on the water. Also aiming to do a couple of Open's most likely Parkstone and maybe one on the river.

Good boat, that one. Some slacker won the Crew's Race in it at the Nationals in 1987.

3748 was given her maiden launch at Lymington Town SC (nigel & suzie)....making a group of 3 now at Lymington. ...with 3 others to be roused from the towns garages this summer (we know who you are!).

Might be good to do a Weston visit or invite you guys over to Lymington Town during the summer if people fancy it?

Whilst Shearwater isn't exactly in Southampton you are one of our nearest options for some 'proper water' so we may come and join in if we can!

It will be great to have another merlin at Weston and love the idea of a get together for all clubs, Weston did mention they would like to host some merlins.

Hi to all Southampton Water MRs...

Reminder that there are two local events next weekend - Chichester on Sat and Hamble on Sunday.

If you haven't visited Chichester before it is highly recommended as a very friendly club and a stretch of water that is ideal for boats not, how shall I put it...,  in their first flush of youth?

Hamble is more challenging but if you are Merlin newbies, it must surely be on your bucket list of places to take your boat.

I'm trying not to think about how long ago that was!!!

Boat is now down at Weston. Just waiting for scan on my knee following skiing injury to get all clear to start sailing. For any other boats based locally the club have said we can have a class start with 4 or 5 boats. So if anyone else is interested in joining us at the club for some class racing get in touch!

'Blue' will be painted by the end of this month :-)
