MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Why?!

I have designed many wonderful Merlin Rockets over the years, along with my chums at Adur boatyard, and they're still winning on rivers up and down the land. My descendants have designed lovely wide boats which can still run with their lovely big spinnakers, and when the wind pipes up and the waves are rolling at Ranelagh they look beautiful, and they occasionally beat my older designs.

Now some whipper snapper has appeared with this! http://www.x1riverboat.co.uk/faq

Reminds me somewhat of that MRX thing.

Toodle pip.

It is an interesting boat, but not for me, no where to sit, strange mainsheet system, and if you wanted to sail with 3 on the river why wouldnt you sail a large river boat called raters, the merlin is a fantastic boat for alround conditions, with great competion and now with great events for all boats, lets just take the vintage, 10 events across the SE, but a small turn out so far, where have all the Hampton boys gone,
and TC. Dont they like competion, the river series is for all boats, good turn out at Cookham, but average turnout at Upper Thames, the next event is at Thames on the 12th June, there is everything to play for, will HSC and TC COME IN FORCE. or dont they like to race or see the expanding fleet at Thames,, come and make a great day
