Hi all
Just finished off a new Merlin design, but I think I might have problems getting it to match the measurements required to enter the class, as it's a bit flat and probably doesn't measure up to the box design properly:
Merlin 01 - Merlin 02 - Merlin 03 - Merlin 04
Please look at the photos before commenting!
Apologies if this offends anyone, lighthearted bit of fun to try and release the pains of not having managed to sail the real one I bought last October since, well, last October!

Looks like a joyrider mod with a raised bow making it potentially ahead of its time!

I like the visibility afforded by those transparent sails - no getting caught on port there!

The sails are coming soon, we have a few scraps of sail material measured out ready :)
I figure it will be an awesome teaching aid, what with the working rudder, tiller, centreboard, boom etc. Couldn't figure out how to get a working mainsheet on it though, they just don't make the right lego pieces.

I like the supergrip decks and floor. Looks like the helm is well anchored there. One can just imagine the helm yelling to the crew "Lego the jib!" Have you managed to get James May interested in such a project? I wonder whether to make a complete Danish concept you could ask Paul Elvstrom to give it a test sail or supply a suitable set of self bailers made in the same material.

Thanks for the comments (made me smile), however, as for James' May, while I'm a big fan of him, Top Gear, and that series in general, I was very disappointed by the lego house, and don't fancy his chances at making a lego boat, especially as it's clearly not waterproof as demonstrated by his tiny sink!
