Topic : Babysitters in Whitstable?

This is early planning even for me... but with the house booked 2 minutes walk from the club and social calender already up for the Nationals we are very much going to be in need of a babysitter for young Hugo...

If anyone has any daughters (or sons?) up for some extra cash or know of any "qualified" babysitters in Whitstable please email me... he's a solid sleeper once he's down its just the 6am waking that can be slightly draining!

We also need to organise babysitting. I'd be happy to do a swap, one night for another maybe if that's of any help. It's been on my mind too.

We are bringing our own (my parents) to stay with us and look after our little girl. We are seeing them this weekend, so can ask whether they can keep an eye on Hugo for you. Not registered childminders, but I turned out OK (ish).

Not too sure that they will be too impressed with a creche ....

Maybe the class association should provide such a thing (I did propose this before) with the money in the class coffers?

All sorts of legal problems with setting up a even a part time creche, see the link.

Just seen these posts - thanks Andy would be up for anyone's parents / grandparents or friends who wouldn't mind sitting on a different sofa and keeping an ear out for Hugo - he is a solid sleeper - 12 hrs at night, 3 hours during the day and always has been... wouldn't say so otherwise!

Best number to call is the sail loft 01243 374495 or email me.

We are staying at The Slipway - just 5 minutes from the clubhouse...

Whilst there might be all sorts of problems setting up a creche, that doesn't mean that it can't be outsourced to people who know how to deal with those issues. I found the link below.

As my Kids are well beyond creche age, I have no real interest in this and I am very unlikely to be at the Nationals this year (unless I magically grow a crew), just trying to provide a helpful pointer to some one that might want to take this line of enquiry further.

p.s. a little more googling reveals "Permanent crèches and temporary crèches that run more than 5 times per year at the same venue must be registered with OFSTED. Temporary crèches that run less than 5 times per year do not have to be registered."

Should probably mention we have a lovely girl sorted for babysitting at Whitstable - but would love to see creches at every sailing club - would surely boost attendance on the water!

Hamish, I've sent you an e-mail

Rachel, I would second that, on a rainy day it would be good to have some activities sorted, even for us 'stay on the beach Mums' or just to be able to have some 'Mummy' time. Wouldn't mind paying for it either. Problem is finding someone willing and able to put the hours in organising it year on year.

Hear hear. We have to choose our events based upon proximity to babysitting - either set of parents or godparents. Something to discuss at Whitstable - that's 3 boats worth and I know that the Hollingsworth crowd help eachother out.

Just spent a year of my diminishing life span completely rebuilding and refurnishing a cottage belonging to my partner and crew, Julie Puckett, in order to put it on the holiday market to support us in our old age. It is now pristine and able to accommodate 4 persons in comfort in one double and one twin bedroom , within staggering distance of the club. As Merlin sailors ourselves, we also offer invaluable information on local facilities, tides, pubs, restaurants, boat and sail repairs and anything else you need. We promise not to beat anyone who rents the cottage and we can fix this since we are the results team. Call 01227 281867 if this appeals.
