Anyone able to give me a rough idea of how much it would cost to refit a Merlin with new string? Assuiming pretty much everything needed replacing, halyards, sheets and control lines, what sort of expense would this be likely to set me back?

lots and lots dependant on the type of boat (1 string or otherwise) For everything including halliards etc on a new boat its probably 3 or 4 hundred plus also would depend on the quality of ropes. Get a quote from speeds or winder

Hi John, Don't know what part of the UK your in, but the Dinghy Store at Datchet Water(SLOUGH) can assist. We give 10% discount to Merlin sailors. If you bring the boat up we can assist you with running everything in the right place.

Get your shopping list and go to a good boat jumble. The most expensive there is usually Jimmy Green's bargain box and even their prices are really low! We got loads of stuff at Beaulieu - 8 metre control lines at 3 for a fiver, main halyards at a fiver each........ Google "boatjumble" for the list of events.
