Results here. Lovely day on the beach! Mike Calvert and Roger Gilbert 3r and 4th. Katrina Gilbert 2nd in the RS200 - she must be the missus?!? http://www.hisc.co.uk/openresults08/glyn_charles_pursuit_08.htm |
Roger was leading the charge of the Merlins but Mike got inside him as they went left up the last beat. Breeze was good till it died in the last 35 minutes and we saw the breeze drop from 8 to 3 - 4 knots. Shame as I think the Merlins would have taken the lead, then been overhauled by the B14s and in turn they would have been overhauled by the I14s followed by the infamous Simon Payne in his Moth ormaybe the foiling RS600 which he gave nearly 10 minutes to. Top prize in my opinion went to second as you could not buy it for love or money. The girls are going to have a day on Graham Walker's classic yacht in the south of France in September, all expenses paid. |
Why all the DNC's? |
Due to the dying breeze and tide, many boats did not complete the course and so retired prior to the finish, though there were several finishing gates. There were only 71 entries prior to the day, but some people enter on principle and do not then race but contribute to the cause. Think you will find out of 215 entries, there were probably at least 200 that launched. |
