The government has just announced that they will be introducing a new 'drink-drive' law applying to all boats. Skippers of boats under 7 metres which are CAPABLE of a max. speed of more than 7 knots and who are convicted of having more than 80 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood could be fined up to 5000 or spend 2 years in jail. The law will be enforced by the rather sinister sounding 'Marine Officials'
Using the old formula of 1.4 x the square root of it's waterline length a Merlin Rocket can't do more than about five and a half knots can it!
P.S. The govt. is also proposing to reduce the amount of alcohol allowed in a car driver's blood to 50/100.

50/100 that's half isn't it. So eight pints of blood thats four pints of alcohol.
Sounds alot to me;)

If this rule applies to skippers, I guess the crews will just have to do the drinking for both...
Ho hum, just another sacrifice we are prepared to make..

Sorry Nigel,
1 milligram is (roughly) equivament to 1 micro litre (you're 1000 times out!)
