For the first time ever, Leigh and Lowton Sailing Club will be hosting a regatta weekend. The emphasis on the water will be racing whilst off the water the plan is to have fun!
Racing will commence at midday on Saturday and 11am Sunday. Racing will be split into Laser, Solo, Junior, Handicap and Asymmetric Fleets. There will be six races in total with four to count, however included will be a Saturday and Sunday series for those who can only attend one day.
Entry fees (Including free T-Shirt!) for both days will be £15 for double handers, £8 for single handers and £5 for juniors. Entry will include free camping on site. For one day only fees will be £8 for double handers, £4 for single handers and £3 for juniors.
The bar will be open from Friday Evening till Sunday afternoon. The galley will provide hot and cold meals on both Saturday and Sunday. Video footage from racing will be screened in the bar after sailing. There has also been rumour of a karaoke on Saturday evening.
A bottle boat race is planned for Saturday after sailing. The race will be from jetty to jetty, with prizes for the first three ‘boats’ to make the journey. Entry is free. The only rule is your homemade hull(s) must be made from a plastic bottle. Sail inventory, t-foil designs and trapezing action men are all up to you. There will be no age limit! Click here for bottle boat examples.
There will be a whole host of prizes including top three in each fleet, Club Trophy for the best placed three entries from a visiting club, first under 14, first under 17 and the Race Weekend Trophy for the entry with the least total points over six races.
