I have a black superspar carbon mast with metal track. Unfortunately the track has come away at the bottom and previous attempts to glue it back have not been as successful as I'd like. Has anyone done this successfully or can anyone offer any advice about which epoxy to use and if additives such as microfibres are going to help or not?
Any advice gratefully received!! Thanks Mark

The only other one i know of that did this was Paul Hollis' mast and that had to go back to superspars.
Don't think it cost a lot to repair though.

It's apparantly not a straightforward epoxy job by the way. They use a special glue and it takes ages to cure through.

There has been a problem with a couple of Thames A-Rater superspars masts which have been built with a stuck on mast. The guys who put them together used, apparently, the incorrect glue (!) although obviously it's not for me to say if this is the issue here. Jamie Stewart, whose contact details I'm sure someone will know, is aware of the issue and the appropriate techniques and glue to solve it.

Sikaflex 252 With the primer 291 according to my source. He uses plastic track though FWIW.

Thank you all for your comments and advice. I have a very detailed conversation with the guys at SP and have taken their advice and used epoxy with some additives - after doing a lot of prep work. Cheers Mark

Until the next time it peels off when I will again have to helm (?!) whilst you tie down the mast track within the 4min gun of a race....the spectacle of which I would have thought, should be enough to scare off most Merlin helms from within 200m of the line!
