Topic : Slot Gasket replacement advice sought

Do any of you experts have advice on the finer points of fitting a new slot gasket? I'm particularly interested in what overlap (if any) you should have and someone mentioned to me about cutting a vee at the rear to let the water out??
All advice welcome! Water in the centreboard case rotates like a washing machine at present and pours out the top into the boat at certain speeds!

How about taking a look at this one for a start. I'm sure there are plenty of Merlin specific challenges that others can advise on but this is a good start.

I followed this advice more or less but I used a length of neoprene pond liner from a garden centre (in Leamington Spa) off a roll for mine - you get loads of it for a very low price and I think it will last well - lovely and flexible too. Should resist water well!!!!!!

We got slot gasket and glue from LDC - they were the cheapest mail order.
LDC Racing Sailboats, Trafalgar Close, Chandler's Ford, Hants.
I know they make those RS things but they are cheaper than P&B etc. for lots of bits.

Thanks for all the info guys. Any suggestions on overlap? Wayfarer site seems to say about 5mm but I have heard 1.5 mm best. Does it matter?

David Child has emailed me the design of a gadget he used in addition to a slot gasket.
