Including requests over the weekend for which we have not had forms yet we have 70 entries including 28 Vintage boats. Maximum number per fleet will be 30.
There are a few whose forms and money have not yet arrived although they listed themselves as entered on this site. If you sent a form and have not had an acknowledgement, let me know.

Call me old fashioned but how do you determine a Vintage boat. Has it been decided by a random sail number or is it something to do with when the beam was significantly increased.

thank you , looks like the cut off was 3066, was this a significant design change or perhaps a random date. The only reason I am trying to determine the cut off and how it came about is because it seem obvious that a bout 1'4" wider has comsiderably more sittin out power so it seems more logical to have some kind of cut of that takes this into account.maybe at the end of the proctor desigs perhaps.
presumably there is also a classic section that encourages racing of the Sepember girl, ghost ridees,Summer Wines NSM's etc that are hopelessly outclassed but the winder 3 but are clearly not the same as boats prodeced in the early 60's.
Perhaps going forward we could have some clarity on this?

Sitting out power also depends what weight you are and many heavier crews sail narrower boats successfully. Vintage is about the age of the boat and the handicaps help but I believe there should be handicap advantages for un-modernised boats as well as by age. It showed in how the fleet divided at Tammy last Saturday into modernised and un-modernised.

Now even more confused, you mean vintage races are sailed under a handicap basis. So on the tideway the 30 or so vintage boats will be in their own handicap race?
Take your point about heavy crews narrow boats but remember you have to go downwind too so I don't buy that one. twin trapezing bendy rigs in the 14's dropped the crew weight by 3 stone!
Still require clarification on the vintage thingy. Who is the best person to contact and how does it tie in with the Tideway.

Apart from the main Golden Triton Trophy, the Vintage boats will also sail for a separate, Avenger Trophy which will be based on the age related handicaps shown in the Association year book. Classification, for this event at least, is purely on age. Mervin Allen oversees the Vintage section events.

If you are having trouble opening the SI's try right clicking and downloading before opening. I have tried on three computers, 2 worked either way but one would not open the document online, though it did after downloading.

Big Ben was actually overtaking the Enterprises.

Actually Big Ben is the bell inside St Stephen's ower I agree the bell being inside the tower it too would have been overtaking. Incidentally in 1960 the Enterprise Class had a full Tideway Race (Tower Bridge Race not stopping in the pool just round a buoy and back.)
