Topic : Im after a combi & lifting rudder

Hi folks i'm new to the class having just sold my phantom dinghy, i have bought an NSM4 3374. I'm after a combi to replace the tired one that came with the boat pref not a home made job but would consider anything that doesnt need work. I;m also after a lifing rudder complete as my boat came with a fixed system, which is no good at my club. Will travel for right bits call Russ Hopkins on 07979 862089 or e-mail [email protected]

Regarding the combi, second hand combis are as rare as anything, unless you are luck you should bite the bullet and buy a new one in my opinion. Sovereign are popular with Merlins.

They are dear, but when/if you sell the boat you are under no obligation to sell the new combi too...........

I've been looking after the second hand stuff for two years now and i've only seen one combi come up for sale.

Alternatively you can keep an eye out for a second hand boat with combi and lifting rudder, switch things around and re sell or keep for spares. There is one for £400 with a comi, but unfortuntaley no rudder, if had one the maths wouldn't be bad £100 for second hand lifting rudder & stock, £200 for second hand combi - you woudl only need to resell for £100 or 'value the mast/sails/c/board, rope /cleats as spares at £100 to make sense.

Have often wondered whether it is worth buying something like a second hand Enterprise on a combi and re-selling the enterprise as they seem to be easier to sell.

Provided the boat you buy is 12-16 ft the trailer will be pretty much the same and all you need to do is buy a new cradle. So it does not matter what class it is.

i have found a decent second hand combi and was thinking about adding my cradle to it making a cheap merlin combi, perhaps there would be a profit in doing this !!!
