Where is the best place to stay in Salcombe (east / west, North sands, Marlbourough etc) for Salcombe week in relation to, the town, the sailing club and where the boats are kept? Or is it a case of anywhere in the town will do?

Within walking distance of the ferry or Whitestrand, and the Yacht Club bar, Fortescue, Ferry Inn, etc etc so in the town not miles up the hill. Boats are normally on the other side so either cross on the East Portlemouth ferry or cadge a lift from someone with a motor boat to get over to Mill Bay. Cars are a liability in Salcombe you are far better walking.

Fore Street is very good for access but gets very noisy at night. Further up the hill you have a bit of a walk but you stand more chance of getting a good night's sleep, the car parking included and nice views up the estury.

Just booked for Salcombe and noticed that Merlin week is mid = season thru Coast and Country cottages - a saving of nearly 50% in our case !! Book early in case they notice !!!!

It was cheaper with Coast and Country last year too. We have just booked up too. Got a lovely flat overlooking Courtny Park on Devon Road.
Looking forward to Salcombe already!!
