Topic : Allen South East Series 2024

Hi All

The Allen South East Series is nearly upon us. We have 6 great events lined up for the season:

(FLAT) Broxbourne 24th March (changed from Wembley)

(FLAT) Broadwater Saturday 13th April

(FLAT) Fishers Green Sunday 21st April

(WAVEY) Brightlingsea 11 /12 May

(WAVEY) Whitstable 22 / 23 June (also a Silver Tiller)

(WAVEY) Shoreham Saturday 19 October including the now legendary prizegiving and social

You just need 3 events to qualify, but one must be wavey and one flat - but fear not if you miss out on overall qualification we also have the Champion Hurdler (wavey) and Flat Racing Champion prizes (series within a series). This year we are introducing the Backbone Tankard - a new prize for the qualifying mid fleet sailors. Details to follow. Plus we have youth awards, crews awards and most importantly - the Team Trophy. You need 3 boats in a team so please can you all encourage your mates to join the fun and try to get 3 boats per club at each event.

We have got loads of cool spot prizes from our generous sponsors Allen including, T shirts, kit bags, vouchers, aerovanes, auto ratchet blocks and high load blocks - lots to go round.

Last year the SE Circuit received some top reviews: "Five stars" according to the Daily Bugle, "Outstanding" said the "Daily Planet" and "a Triumph" wrote The Chronicle.......who can argue with that!!!!

66 different helms and 69 crews competed. There is literally nothing not to like about this circuit. All ages, standards, designs welcome. Please come and join us.

Details of Broxbourne SC to follow in the next couple of days. Watch this space or join the SE Whatsapp Group.

Cheers, Paul

Broxbourne Info:
Sunday 24th March. 3 races. 1st Start 1045. Briefing 1015. 2 races back to back, lunch then final race. Breakfast and Lunch included in entry fee of £25 which is payable on the day. The club has asked for pre-entries online via the weblink below so they can confirm with their caterers.

Its been about 30 years since the Merlins have been to Broxbourne. Its also the clubs centenary year and Im really pleased they have stepped into support us as Wembley cannot accommodate. Chris Hill, Richard Coulter, Godfrey Clark, Me and many others all sailed there back in the day. They are a club steeped in history and once were the home club of Toby Cooper multiple British Moth National Champ, David Izatt 3 times Int Moth World Champion and of course Jacko sailed there, amongst others.

I hope we will get a good turnout for our series opener and support the generosity of Broxbourne to put this event on for us. Boats can be left at the club on Saturday 23rd if need be.

Hi All. Next up....Round 3 at Fishers Green this Sunday 21st April. This is your last chance to bag a flat racing venue and thereby qualify for the SE Series overall. Remember you can carry your overall qualifying result in the SE Series as a Silver Tiller score so dont miss out.

Three races back to back starting at 11am. Then food can be purchasd from the galley afterwards. Entry fee £17 plus a warm welcome at one the Merlin fleets most picturesque venues nestled in the heart of the Lea Valley Country Park.

Early entry up until 8pm on Saturday or enter on the day - old school style. FG have a fleet of 9 home boats ready to welcome the visitors so this is likely to be a big turnout. Northerly is the current forecast which provides the longest possible beat on the lake, so its looking really good for Sunday. Entry link below or join the SE Whatsapp Group for details.
