Hi all
 
After just recoating the varnish on my CF boom and poles i am looking for someway of stopping the banging that occurs when the poles recover. Besides being annoying and causing scratches in the varnish i am sure it can't be good for the spars.
 
I have seen previous pics of boats with what look like foam rings around the ends of the poles that appear to be there to reduce this and just wondered if anyone had any suggestions to stop this.
