Joe started his Marine Engineering Apprenticeship in September at Southampton City College. Talking to his tutor said I would ask if anyone knows of any Merlins going begging for the students to work on. Wooden or plastic, carbon rig (well, said i'd try) wood or metal, it's all good. Also on the lookout then probably for sails etc..... Would be a nice project

I own MR 2929 - a Keith Probert built SMOKERS SATISFCTION and wish to give this to anyone willing to take on a restoratation project. The boat comes with launching trolley and centreboard .... and that's it ! Your guys are welcome to have a go !!!  I have done a number of vintage restorations, thus, I do know what to look for. I have owned this for a couple of years and have decided that I just don't need a smokers ! I believe the hull, centreboard casing and transom to be sound and well worth some time and effort. I would just get on and re deck the boat. If you have somewhere dry and warm, to work - you might get a better offer, but you won't get a better design to play with, This boat is free to any applicant. Lying, Kingston upon Thames.
