Topic : Selden Carbon Mast Auction - Starts tomorrow - Please Read.

Hi Everyone,

The mast auction procedure has changed, due to high eBay fees.  The sale of the brand new Selden carbon fibre mast will be by Sealed Bids auction.  Anyone can submit a bid over £1000.  If nobody submits a bid over £1000 then I have committed to buying it for that price.  I'm sure that won't happen.  I am entitled to put in my own bid of higher than this.

It is a fully rigged high modulus carbon mast that retails at £2500.  It can be delivered to an April Silver Tiller by prior arrangement, or collected from Selden anytime after 28th March.

The Sealed Bids Auction will start at 8am tomorrow morning (Friday 20th February).
Bids are made by sending an email containing your name, address and phone number and your bid to [email protected]
The auction will end at midnight on Saturday 28th February.
By bidding, an individual commits to buying the mast at that price, and paying the MROA within seven days of the end of the auction.
A bidder can bid more than once but their highest bid will apply.
If two identical bids are the joint highest winner, then a draw will be made at 12noon on Sunday 1st March on the Merlin Rocket stand. (This is unlikely to occur, as people can put in non-round numbers to avoid this).

The email address is only accessible by David Hayes of Selden who have not only donated the mast as sponsorship of the Nationals at Whistable, but is also the impartial administrator of this Sealed Bids Auction.

This is exciting.  And starts at 8am tomorrow.

This is what Dave Hayes, Selden, Account Manager says about the mast:

"Our new high modulus technology at Selden has many performance advantages over traditional carbon rigs. A significant reduction in drag with less wind-age from the skinny section delivers an immediate benefit and also allows for greater efficiency of the sail with less turbulence across the luff the laminar flow attaches itself sooner to the mainsail membrane. Bonded carbon spreader brackets, boom bracket and mast head help avoid penetrating the spar walls, enhancing the masts structural integrity and making it stronger."

Any queries relating to this auction can be sent to me at [email protected].  Please do not send me your bids.

Happy bidding!!

Fran
