MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : If Carling restored Merlins.........

I think we all know the tag line from the advert! With classic restorations and renovations a 'happening' topic here is a good news story relating that relates to 'restored' boats.

Hidden away in the corner of a workshop are two immaculate restorations - this is not hyperbole but a simple statement of fact. The craftsmanship and finish is amazing. There are two boats, one is a Proctor IX from Chippendales, the other - well, the thwart had long gone so there is no idea what the number could be. All that I can confirm is that the boat was built at W&C......

I've sent some pictures in to mags with a request that he upload them so I hope you can all see them soon - if someone is clever enough to say that is a XII, vIII or whatever - I would be very grateful.

Enjoy - these two boats are amazing!

Wouldn't it be easier to identify them from photos BEFORE the restoration?

They look bloody amazing though - see link below for 3 pictures entitled "beautiful but unknown".

I wish Mags I wish...but this (and the other boat beside it, a Chippendale IX, which is in even BETTER condition) is as I found it....

I found out about these boats during one of the interviews for Pure Magic and then started the research on these! But you did make me laugh...you comment sounds just like that of Editor to Freelancer...okay, nice story, where's the rest of it!!!

Thanks for posting the pics, will be sending in some more I hope as I continue my travels on Pure Magic (have you enjoyed the shots of Shaft on the Pure magic F'Book page?)

I believe you mean, 'If Carlsberg restored Merlins....'

I know they are both crappy lagers but the latter is considerably less foul.... :-P
