MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Salcombe Seedings

The latest brilliant looking mag has somehow 'lost' three competitors from the seedings. These are Tony Johnson, Andy Dalby and Morgan B-P.

Fear Not! All is in hand - watch this space for how Salcombe will publish the correct info...

Oh dear!!!!
That isn't the only cock-up on that spread either.
I will buy a pint of Doombar in the YC to the first person on this forum to point out the other obvious one.
I am hoping to limit my liability to one pint - and endless ridicule no doubt!

' the membership dropped from 508 to 511 '

must be worth 3 pints !!!

Another great magazine, thank you Pat! P.s. I was quite looking forward to a week on the beach......never mind.

I must admit, I was wondering how Richard was going to attend a wedding, work at PYC during the week and then go on a family holiday whilst also sailing at Salcombe. And they say that men are bad at multi-tasking.

Well it great to have so many proofreaders out there.

Alan Chaplain is right, of course, the membership increased (not dropped).

I have already admitted to deleting three esteemed competitors at Salcombe by a careless click of the mouse - sorry!

Tricky Dickey was on the original seeding list - does this news change the balance in favour of the blue flight? Can we persuade Cath to let him come, just to redress the balance of course?

Have you read the rest of the mag? Like page 6 :

....Will those sporting the super length centerboards have height to burn or will the extra grip mean that by mid week their crew’s leg muscles have given up the will to live?
Will Dave Hayes’ black boat produce its own race winning thermals or will he and Jonny become welded to the side decks on a hot summer’s day?
Will the canting rig cant? Will Richard recant?
Will the Gay Bar team be back in action?
News reaches us that the wizard of N12 design has turned his eye to the tired old lines of the Merlin Rocket and a wondrous new creation is under development. The computational fluid dynamics analysis is complete, the 3 dimensional lines have been drawn, the sales pitch delivered and the commission placed. With the clock ticking towards the championships, two young stars of the fleet wait apprehensively by the phone for news of when they will get their hands on this new wonder boat.
Meanwhile, down in darkest Devon the ideal tree has been marked for felling, the chisels and spoke shaves are being polished and the creative juices are starting to flow as the humble boat builder dreams of the months of pleasure laid out before him. These things should not be rushed......

Thank you to my anonymous contributor for this, and, of course, if you miss Dan's input on page 9 - you have no chance of winning the champs.

Enjoy the rest of the detail,

Pat

Just received the mag and definitely looking forward to enjoying all the detail. Especially like the continuous front and back covers. On a personal note, is there any chance that the benevolent seedingsmeister would be able to upddate me with my flight seeding. Made a rather late entry for Salcombe, so missed the seedings deadline. If I had a preference, would be nice to be in black flight. :-)

I have also been missed off M/R 3530 Sir Topaz. Would appreciate being added to Black fleet as need to get away mid afternoon on Friday.
