Hi there - I'm looking to pick up a Merlin at the end of season and I'm wondering what I'd get for around a £1000? 

It's for myself and my son to do some club handicap racing with next season and as our 1st Merlin we'd be looking for one of the more stable designs. 

I've storage for it over the winter so a bit of refurb would be ok. 

Any advice gratefully recieved.

A stable boat for about a grand is achievable and if you look at the For Sale list, you'll see a Summer Wine and (I think) an NSM4, both of which may meet your criteria. Both excellent boats in their day. If you want something a bit more different, try Enchantment-I had this boat built for myself and it's very stable. You might be able to do a deal there. Look also on Apollo Duck, there was a Gnome that was around the hoped for price. If that fails, I am thinking of selling my Summer Wine (3344) at the end of the season and we might be able to do a deal..........!

You might also want to take a look at the riders on the storm boat (no 3480). It is very stable and a completely sorted boat with a full raking rig.
