MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Champs Update

Hi y'all, fresh from a meeting with Penzance Sailing Club, all is good to rock & roll. Funnily enough only been to Penzance when the cornish sunshine is in full effect - aka hacking down & blowing it's bits off. Still should be fine in three weeks time .... don't believe that St. Swithin's day stuff (it was blowing a gale, with sunshine & showers down here).

OK, admin stuff first:

Can I please have entry forms / missing details for the following:

3698 - Bob O'Toole
37XX - JT
37XX - Stu Bithell - confirmation of crew & boat
37XX - Nick T - confirmation of boat number
3707 - Felix & Si
3706 - Mr Anderson
3665 - Ross - confirmation of crew only
3713 - Steve & Tim
3650 - Tosh - confirmation of crew only
3688 - Mr & Mrs Bond
3683 - Team North
3714 - Charles
3701 - Team P&B
3702 - Andy D (heard rumours about this one ....)

Anyone else intending to come - I am sure there are more Hampton boats trekking south.

Yes, I know that you have all said you are coming (cheque / Entry Form is in the post, I know, honest guv), but we are now trying to sort the details out and if I don't hear by say the end of this week, you are liable to not get a T shirt. Also, we are looking at the tally / boat park allocation ...

OK, grumpy bit out of the way. I have asked the Club to see if there are any junior sailors - kite & competition ready - who can crew, as I know there are a few out there who might come, if a crew can be found - Mr Gurney. Well, they were positive, no names yet, but I think it can be done. Another excuse removed.

Socials are slotting into place. Prizes ordered. Sailing Instructions done.

Its gonna be goooooooood.

Entry received from the great JT & Animal. Hopefully the paint on the new ship will be dry!

Still awaiting the details as my previous post (except Ross & JT of course). I'll hit the phone next, you have been warned!

Really looking forward to this event. The socials are going to be fantastic, the Club are organised and the weather ... well, fingers crossed

Andy. I have here a load of Pirate Party Stuff from childrens parties we've done over the years. Do you want it for the Fancy Dress night? Amanda.

If you have room to bring it, then fine. There is also a good (apparently) Pirate shop just down the harbour wall from the Club. This has been highly recommended by PSC! There is also a dressing up shop on the main Penzance High street. Must be a regular activity down there - well they are Cornish I suppose.

Not sure what stuff you can buy in a Pirate Shop, but am looking forward to finding out ...

I assume that Tosh is not having Princess Fiona crew for him this year? Can you let me know who will be (especially T shirt size!)?

Is there going to be a passage race?

Since you are apparently sailing with Ross, everyday will feel like a long passage .....

Sorry Ross, couldn't resist. Well done Fran by the way. Sorry but Viper will not measure ...

OK chaps & chapesses, if you haven't got your entry in by Wednesday THIS WEEK, then:

a: your boat number will not appear in the Event Handbook as this must go to print
b: you will not get an event T Shirt as I need to get them ordered
c: (and this is the clincher) your boat park space will be allocated as if you have the newest boat in the fleet, which will mean that you are at the end of the launch queue, i.e. furthest away from the slipway, the hose pipe and the clubhouse + bar.

So can tose that have booked accommodation and told me that they are coming get their paperwork sorted. 57 paid up, 65 promised ..... you know who you are!!
