Topic : Blackpool ST

Thanks to everone who organised the event, one of the most "differant" events i think i've ever done!!

The picnic lunch and beers on the the island really topped it off - those who missed it missed out!

I bet it was good.
We really wanted to go but travelling so far north again after just getting back from Carsington seemed a little extreem even for us!
Please can I make a plea for future fixtures - consider the travellers.
I know the northern contingent have been saying similar things in the past. Travelling the length of the country and sailing in new places is fun - but two weekends in a row!

Anyway tell us all about it - who won?

Pat,
You may recall when we were young, and boats did not get stolen etc., the powers that be did just that, they "joined up" the fixture list so you could do, Chase, Bolton, Holingworth and Leigh in four consecutive weekends leaving your boat at the last club picking it up on the way by. Of course we had 30mph trailing speedlimits and no 70mph top speed limit, so it made even more sense, additionaly the lost skills of elimentary logistics were still with us, most of those organising our affairs had real experience of moving stuff all over the Europe and the Far East to support an retreating army often leaving tanks and guns buried, behind only to pick the stuff on the way back years later! They did not like multiple journeys, too much risk and expense.

It was indeed a fab event and the kids had a great time too. Thanks Chris and Jo!

Dave and Pippa won but that is all I can tell you, they had 2 1sts and a 2nd but not necessarily in that order!

Glad you guys enjoyed the event as it made the very early start for myself and the safety boat crews really worthwhile. The conditions were excellant for the racing and the beaching of the Merlins on the Sandbank at Wyre Light was a brill idea, espeacially the refreshments! My thanks got to Fleetwood RNLI for letting us berth the safety boats in their pen, which made the logisitcs that much easier. Well done everybody!

It was a fab weekend - Champagne sailing, Stella on the beach and a nice hot coffee (or 3) to warm my cold bones. Really well organised racing too. I'd love us to come back (and hopefully bring a few more pals with us next time...)
