Topic : The River Experience? Trent Valley on 31st May

Fed up with zooming around the big ponds? No need to trek all the way down to old father Thames to try the river sailing experience - just come along to Trent Valley on 31st May for their Midland Circuit Open.

Interesting sailing guaranteed and an excellent sit-down lunch for the less energetic.

If you've not been before (or even if you have) make sure that you get the directions from their website.

Looking forward to it. I've landed a top crewing spot with 'TVSC royalty' John Dalby sailing Valley Freight (A prototype 'Shaggy Whippet' design). This fine bitch has come from the blue blood line breeding of the Type 42 (NSM 2 cross 4), Holt Passing Cloud and modern Winder IV with box deck.

I appreciate this may well put off the usual trophy hunters (Whitworth, Biggsie, Stewart, Calvert, King, Truswell, Gilberto, Phil, George and Richard Dalby) but hey, what can you do. Barnsie won't be there either.

Lets hope that there is some wind and not too much rain otherwise it is just like pushing water uphill - sailing forwards but going back down the river. Should be a good day.

Looks set fine withplenty of sun and a good wind for a pleasant day's river sailing on Sunday. Why not dust off your trailer, load up the boat and come along.

An excellent days sailing with 12 merlins line abreast steaming up the Trent under spinnaker. Scared one or two of the gin palaces along th way.

The lunch was, as ever, excellent - somewhat difficult to force yourself back onto the water.

Next Midland event is Carsington on Sunday 14th June - somewhat of a contrast!
