MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : New rules kite alterations etc

I recently purchased thin Ice 3498 and have decided to convert it to a new rules spinnaker so I can get closer to the PY I have to sail of. Could any one tell me how I can work out where I have to move the spinnaker halyard block up to? Also is there any one out there willing to sell me a new rules kite. It’s just for club racing until I get up to speed with Merlin sailing then I will hopefully look at buying a new set. I am based at Combs sailing club in Derbyshire.

Are you sure you don't already have a big kite on 3498? Big kites came out in 2003, so rare for a boat of that age not to have been updated yet...

Hi Paul

Congtatulations on your purchase,as original owner I think you have a boat design well able to compete at any level
Its the last Rowsell boat to feature in the Nationals records finishing 6th at Abersoch in 98 (A boat called Gangsta Paradise finished 2nd wonder what happened to it?)

I seem to remember that the poles are OK for a new rules kite – there being no need to move the sheave box

I have a spare kite available for a nominal fee

Feel free to give me a call --- number in the yearb
