Yes, many dinghies use them. Surprised you are using a flag! Look up the Hawk on the websight below for a comparison.

Has anyone used the 'Tempest 12"', at 36g it is heavier than the 10" Hawk? 

I would personally go for the Hawk, cheaper than e-bay, at £15:70 (inclusive of p&p) from Tony at SailSport
