Topic : Merlin Rocket WOTFREE 2095

Hi,
Some time ago i added a topic to the discussion forum about merlin rocket wotfree 2095.But only had one realy good reply and it was about the 2nd merlin rocket my dad John Freeman built. But i am still on the hunt for wotfree (The first merlin rocket that my dad built) and was just wondering is anyone had got any news on her.

Thanks all the same

She was at Parkstone for a long time. You might ask around there.

The last registered owner in the MROA year books was R Moberley, 10 Grange Road, Broadstone, Dorset. He/she was a member of Parkstone YC. Would it be worth dropping a line to that address?

Hi

I would just like to thank Tony Lane and Rob Holroyd for all the details you have added to my forum about WOTFREE. I have just sent off a letter to the address of the Moberleys.

Best wishes

As a little bit of background, I spoke to John Freeman about the boat a year or two ago, and unfortunately he had little recollection of building her. I believe that this was due to it being finished by its first owner, Don Byne (apologies if thats not the correct spelling) The inlay work in the side decks, the thwart and centre board case all have the look of 'Freeman' boats I've seen since, and the detailing when new must have been fantastic. Sadly like all things it has aged and needs more time than I have to do her justice. By all accounts she performed very well at Banbury during the time she was raced regularly.
Let me know if you would like photos for your album.

Thank you very much for the pictures you have sent me. The boat looks like she is well due for little TLC.

Hi Jonty, no problem at all - glad they were of interest.

There has been no interest or even any offers for the boat as a going concern so i'm preparing to sell off the fixtures and offer the hull to anyone who would like to take it. Sad, but all good things come to an end.

It might make someone an ornamental feature in the garden? hoho. At least he parts may rejuvanate an older boat or keep one on the water a bit longer.
