I have heard (true or not) that it won boat of the boat show (Earls Court) 1977. I owned it for a couple of years early 80's. Would be intrested to hear of it's where abouts.

Yves Jambon, an engaging rascal of Dériveur Service in St. Malo, imported & sold(at inflated prices) 10-15 Merlins, mostly in Brittany. Apart from a couple of these who turned up for the St Malo Easter outing in whatever year that was, we have never seen any of these on the water anywhere. We would love to,- so we can organize the Europeans.

Thanks for the info, from this I now know that a Jeremy Palmer owned the boat around the 2005/6 time. I have tried to e-mail him, but e-mails are returned. Does anyone know of Jeremy, and how to contact him.

Now we are talking - THE EUROPEANS
When and where is the first one going to be held - and is it going to be part of the 'Grand slam'

Carnac Le Plage gets my vote, not to far from St Malo but on the southern Brittany coast lots for the family (do you think you can go without them?)good sailing, bigger crabs than Looe and Menhirs for the younger Asterix and Obelix fans.

Don't forget Roaring Water Bay in wonderful West Cork as a venue - a great stretch of water, launching from the harbour at Baltimore and there are more than a couple of bars for the thirsty!
Seeds of a Euro Circuit???!!!

If you are wanting to look into European venues I'd suggest take a look at SC Workum in Holland. I raced there earlier this year in the Solo Nations Cup. Racing on the Ijsselmeer. The sailing club is at the far end of one of the largest campsites in Holland called IT soal.
www.itsoal.com
With the solo's the event was run as part of a multiclass run event and I have to say it was probably one of the best run events I've ever sailed in. Great courses, quick turnaround for the racing. On shore plenty of things to do for families etc and the local town 10 mins bike ride..
www.soloklasse.nl if you go to the english section and look up nations cup it has some pictures..
Just an idea if your thinking of going over to Europe.

All I need to do know is ask Roger if he will sell Wild Card back to me!

European's sound good, Holland even better, raced the Solo there many times, at various venues. Most based on the Ijsselmeer. realy nice people, large open water, but generally failry shallow, kicks up a very short chop, when windy. Contenders have also been out there recently.
