Topic : Advice for a newbie

After a windy Sunday and being down to the last 3 strands on my port shroud thought it was time to get a new pair!

Having bought new today got them home to find that there is about 15mm difference in length between the new shrouds and about 35mm difference between the origional (which is shorter) and the longest new one

I guess the difference in lengeth will alter my standard settings is it enough though to get the gents in the shop to re cut them for me especially as I took the old shroud in for reference

I'd take them back and ask for them to be redone. That is significantly out, not only are they not the same length and problematically so but not at all the length you asked for.

Don't think that is good enough. I have used Tony Blackmore and Kevin Butler Rigging (couldn't get hold of Tony quickly) - both were spot on the measurements I gave them and can recommend both. Someone else did me a really nice wire to rope splice (not a soft loop) for Secret Water but can't remember who. Remember - the Forth Road Bridge wires are gradually pinging their way to 3 strands so they netter get the length right when they sort it!!

Sounds like the work experiance oink did them, take them back and refuse them if more than 1mm different, all round, its not rocket science. Or get you money back and pop to Alverbank, Kevin can use a ruler.
