MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Well done Ozzie and Melissa!

The best sail of the year for Merlins at Brightlingsea, 4 boats including Jacko (out of retirement)visiting us saw a force 3-4 and wall to wall sunshine. Each Merlin held the lead at various times throughout the race but Ozzie and Melissa showed us all the way home. Talk at the club is of more Fireball sailors making the jump to Merlins, after todays race who can blame them! Jacko finished second, Charltons 3rd (what were you doing with the kite?) and me.....well lets just say I'm looking forward to next weekend!

Thanks Craig. I agree the best race so far this year, after the first lap there was only 20 seconds between all 4 of us and at the finish only 90 and that was with the race being 1 hour 44, proves it was anyone's race at anytime.

Ron good to see you on Saturday, would be better with your boat. Roll on Pyefleet Week and what I am sure will be a great week.

We must have been doing something wrong this weekend :-)

In our old boat that funny balloon type sail was tied to a fixed pole at the front of the boat. Yes it did occasionally get in a tangle but the sail never physically tied itself in a knot around the pole! Does the boat have two poles so that the crew can knit with the spinnaker when they are bored? Clearly more "Rutland style" practice is required - then perhaps Celia can knit me a new jumper on our next run!

Joking aside - thanks for a fantastic race we look forward to more of the same.
