Unfortunately we have had to cancel this event, due to take place next Saturday, 29th March, because of a lack of entries.  Only 4 teams had entered by yesterday evening - one each from Banbury and Wembley, and two from the host club - and there was no prospect of getting any more.

To have asked sailors from far afield to travel to Birmingham for a low key competition, not to mention the commitment of two volunteer Umpires who also had to travel considerable distances, would have been unwarranted.  The MROA and Midland Sailing Club reluctantly agreed that the team racing part of the "Birmingham" weekend should be cancelled.

Any chance of it being moved rather than cancelled? There is still allot of people who have not removed the dust covers from their boats yet!?

I can't say at this moment whether the event might be run somewhere later this year.  That would be for the MROA committee to investigate, though it would be a pity for the Topmast Trophy not to take place this year.

Just to clarify.  It's only the Topmast Trophy event on the Saturday which has been cancelled.  The Silver Tiller meeting at Midland SC on Sunday 30th March is still taking place.
