Topic : Restoration advice

I am re-commisioning 3190, a Rowsell Smokers, that has been sitting in my garage for the last 12 years. My problem is that I have had to replace a small piece of the planking between the bailer and the centreboard case and also the wood that was attached to it on the inside and outside of the hull. I glued and coated the wood with SP 106 and now want to repaint and re-varnish with one pack poly. How can I do this? Will the paint and varnish react with the SP? Is there a primmer that I can use over the small areas of SP that will allow me to overcoat with one pack? I would be grateful for any advice. Regards David.

Generally the thought is that once epoxy has cured and is rubbed down to give a key there should be no reaction with traditional or one pack poly going on top. However it is generally not a good idea to put epoxy or two pack poly on top of traditional varnish as the solvents in it can lead to blistering if you haven't got back to bare wood. You shouldn't have a problem going with what you want to do.
