Topic : What's the Merlin scene like at Chew?

Would "The Entertainer" 2706 - an Aln-built Hornblower c.1973 - find any friends at Chew Valley?

Went there Sunday before last for a club try out. I was the only Merlin. There seemed to be a lot of Lasers, RS thingies, FF's and Finns. Nice lake to sail on though. May consider joining if more M/R interest.

I think Ron Perry and Lyn Crabb still sail 3536 up at Chew - contact details in the year book. We did run a South West circuit event there a few years ago - it's a great bit of water and it would be good to see a Merlin fleet develop up there.

Mines a Double 3536 still sailing at Chew!Only Merlin racing at the moment (2nd in this morning's race!)Two other Merlins here(Tales of the Unexpected and just this week Invisible touch 3432 hoping to join. It's a great place to sail and lake nearly full in mid summer.

Lots of the vintage merlin crowd not far from there at Shearwater! Come along on Sept 29 and 30th for the Vintage and cvrda event.

Bristol Corinthian at Cheddar used to be the epicentre of Merlin sailing in the area though seems to have gone to 12s and RS's at the moment.

Another great piece of water (better than Chew - less mud); also undercover storage for Merlins too - great for wooden boats. I think there are still a few Merlins there can't say whether they see the water though.

Not criticsing Chew - just highlighting the alternative.
