My lady crew is looking for a buoyancy aid. Any ideas what to recommend would be useful. I am toldthat she is 36" chest (never realised ladies have chests though hers I am assured is of the treasure variety!!) and she has yet to reveal her weight (was scared to ask) but estimate about 65kg. Any advice for a buoyancy aid make which is a neat fit and comfortable to wear. Please God get it right or there will be hell to pay!!!

Dress size is a tactful way to find out. Dress size - height and you can get the weight and chest size!

three pieces of advice spring to mind - thin ice, deep water, hiding to nothing - take your pick!

Hi Gary,
the recommendation of the Garda from Gull is very good - I got one for Pauline (who also is 36"...at some point!) and she finds it comfortable. You may get into trouble offering to zip her up though!!!! See you at Clwedog?

A delicate moment - I suggest borrowing one, which then excuses the fact that it might not fit right.

Crewsaver Small/Medium at approx £20 - lots of adjustment. I have a Large (42 chest) which worked well (thank goodness) at Brightlingsea. Cheers, Peter

I get my size 16 plus layers of wetsuit/drysuit into an LDC branded (which is really Crewsaver made but cheaper) side zipped racing cut one. Best to try on a few over some layers so you're comfortable for winter sailing. The vest style with large armholes are more comfortable than front zips.

Thanks for all the advice - she plumped (poor choice of phrase) for a Gul Garda for ladies as they were still on offer at £25 post free from wetsuit outlet - oh and the colour matches her particular fashion statement which, as we know, is most important when you are in the middle of the pond, capsized and soaking wet. I will be at Clywedog for sure with a male crew as the lady in question is back at school teaching and it is not a Bank holiday in Scotland that weekend.
