3112, the first NSM1, spotted on ebay. I owned this some 10 years ago - beatiful boat to look at and to sail. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Merlin-Rocket-3112-Lucky-Strike_W0QQitemZ150122205817QQihZ005QQcategoryZ98955QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |
I owned her first! I think that she was built by Jon Turner at Spuds. She had a Smoker's style deck, since we hadn't seen Footloose or Brown Sugar by then. She was originally called Desperado (should the winner be superstitious!). |
I crewed her occasionally with the late William (David) Giles at Queen Mary circa 1980. I think he changed the name. It was the first NSM that I sailed and was amazed how much quicker it planed than our Smokers. |
Good river boat I should think.... |
It's slightly ironic that when the NSM came out, the last place you would consider sailing it is on the river! |
Can anyone tell me her max beam, please; it's not in the design guide? |
If I remember correctly, something like 6 feet 9 inches may be more |
It is 6' 10'' two inches wider than the Smokers. |
Someone had a bargain |
I hope she is the bargain she looks Miles. Thank goodness she's only 6ft 10in wide Jeremy; the garage door is 7ft - if she's wider you can help with the building job! Madness maybe but she should suit my weight and age slightly better than my lovely September girl. It's going to be fun prioritising sailing 2789 and refitting 3112 this summer. Someone may get another bargain later on this year. |
