Having recently purchased 3529 'Pass the Parrot' from Alan Jackson, I would like to re-register the boat with the RYA to enable me to race (well to attempt to race - how many b*+>@y controls do you need, never had this many strings on my Laser!). Looking at the RYA web site, I couldn't find any mention of how to do this, so I sent an email and got the following reply:-
Thank you for your e-mail. You will need to contact a company called UK Ship Register to register your dinghy there details are 02380 329 197 or Website [email protected] If you have any further concerns or queries please don't hesitate to contact the certification department on the details below.
This seems a little strange! Does anyone know if this is true or have I just received a reply from the student trainee?

All you need to do is send a letter with the old cirtificate and your details to the cirtification department along with a cheque for £20. I would suggest they have misunderstood what you want to do.

Clicking on Paperwork under 'Getting Started' on homepage takes you down a similar route. The RYA was very quick and efficient for me. Peter

I've just done exactly the same thing for 2895. She didn't have a cert with her when bought. I contacted the RYA - she had been previously registered. I sent them all of my details (and the 20 quid). They sent me a new cert'.
All very simple.

Thanks folks. I have now sent it off to the RYA. I guess it was a mistake as Jeremy suggests or maybe they do have a student trainee! Grateful for your help.

Dear Sir
Measurement Certificate: new owner “Formidable”
Please find enclosed old measurement form for the Merlin Rocket Dinghy number 3379 built 1986. I also attach a cheque for £15 as a full member of the RYA.
I trust that you will be able to forward a new Certificate for the boat. Does the old one stay with you or is it returned for history?
Yours sincerely

Took two goes (they lost the original cheque), but eventually it arrived. They didnt send the old one back.
If you get stuck and dont hear anything for over 6 weeks, ping me a mail, I have the details of who I called, but not immediately to hand...
