Topic : Cookham Reach Silver Tiller Two Day Event!!!!! 28th, 29th April

Just to let you all know that the Silver Tiller at Cookham Reach is not just the Sunday, there is more fun to be had on the Saturday!!!!

We have our annual training by the very capable Pat and Jilly Blake (worth turning up for on its own) Followed by the Guy Pearce Memorial trophy open to all but run on the Vintage handicap system. Just so you know this was competed for last year by boats from 30 yrs to new and was won by the oldest boat there!!!! A must sail for the vintage clan and a fabulous trophey to boot. (i have even restored an old MK12 for this specific race!)

Just to add a little spice to the mix there will be one of Cookhams Famous parties on the Saturday night and the bar is now being run by an experianced Merlin helm and so will be well stocked!!!! Any requests for particular drinks let me know in advance what you fancy and we will see if we can stock it.

There is also camping availiable in the club grounds for those of you who need somewhere to stay.

See you all there!!

Silver Tiller is on Sunday only - so please come Jon.
Saturday is training (all pretty low key but we hope to help) in the morning and the Guy Pearce Memorial Trophy in the afternon which is run on the Merlin Rocket handicap system - where the older boats get a better rating.
All good fun and we are planing a 'knees up' on saturday evening - if you need somewhere to stay let us know and we will try and sort it out.
However it does NOT count towards the DeMay Vintage Trophy - perhaps Mervyn will include us in that next year?

I was hopeing that it would this year but it seems to have been over looked, however the trophey, donated by Guys daughter Dena, is glorious. It is two cut glass dinghys racing, mounted on a wood base and I want to win it!! So please don,t bring any boats older that 3450 as it is my only hope!!!

May I just add that if you are going to Upper Thames The week before and do not want to take you baot home again it can be arranged to leave your boat at Cookham for the week so it it is there for the open the following weekend.

Please let me know if you wish to take us up on this.

I will be defending the Guy Pearce Memorial Trophy and don't expect it to go to my son's sideboard. Tobacco Road is still a force to be recond with.

I am hoping to bring 2895 along on Sunday for her first outing. How do I rate in the handicap with that number and a very basic (no tuning 'strings') rig?
Do I get extra for being a 'river novice'?

Old boats with no string basic rigs have an advantage over modern Merlins on the River. I suggest you sail off a PY of 980. Sounds fair to me.

I'm coming and looking forward to sailing back on home turf - it's certainly been a while... It's sounding like there's going to be a pretty big crowd. Do I sense a Paarrty? I'd better pack a stereo just in case...

Yes you do sense a party and your the DJ!!! in part at least, or did your mum not tell you that yet?!!

By the way there is a rather large boat type thing in our car park that seems a bit big for the river, it has the markings 'sorded fish' on it?
