MERLIN ROCKET FORUM

Topic : Midland Silver Tiller

Following discussions with the Committee at Midland we have decided to swap the shared ST allocation with Banbury Sailing Club for 2007. Therefore, the scheduled event at Midland on 25th March will no longer be a designated ST event. The Banbury event scheduled for 22nd April will now be ST classified.

Midland has suffered from major engineering work in November/December on the reservoir flow controls. This was followed by a significant reorganisation of British Waterways staff over December/January following a cut in funding by DEFRA. As a consequence, water has not flowed sufficiently into the reservoir to bring it up to a level considered adequate for a significant racing event. We sympathise with Midland members as they are due to open a major Club refurbishment in the next few days and they would have been proud to present the new facilities. However, we plan to have a ST event at Midland in 2008 alongside the team racing event on the same weekend.

Midland have ample water for ordinary Club sailing and are considering the schedule for the Midland Circuit event that runs in conjunction with the ST.

Fortunately Banbury after being nearly empty at the beginning of January is now brim full and looking forward to welcoming the ST hordes back again on 22nd April (and I was looking forward to a quiet weekend!).

Pure slander or should it be libel???

I am always very quiet when I'm sailing (just ask the crew)!

In place of a relaxing Friday and Saturday listening to lectures about bees, I'm now going to have to sweat over a hot stove to feed the n thousand that will turn up for the Silver Tiller.

What I want to know is will the winner of the Banbury Cross trophy from 40 years ago be turning up?

A question, Will there still be a Midland Circuit event on this day or will there be no sailing at all.

Libel is what Australians put on suit cases.

Dave

I have emailed Chairs to ask that question and suggested that we could look at a new date for the Midland circuit event - perhaps June / July.

Dave. If you are referring to 25th March, there will be no sailing at all at Midland on that day.

Thanks, Mike, for clarifying on behalf of MSC.

I anticipate that you may wish to schedule a Midland Circuit event later in the year at Midland.
