Topic : Minima YC Merlin Open

(Advert) The good, the bad and .......the most modern will all be ST'ing at Hollingworth next weekend so why not join us at Minima and have a go at the challenges of river sailing !
Race for the Eric Archer Memorial Trophy - for those of you who remember Eric and know Ben.
Champagne for winning boats (Kindly presented by Ben A.)
Need points for the Thames Series? Not many events left!
Enjoy a good day out at a friendly club.
There should be plenty of older boats (perhaps the champagne will stretch to the fastest one!)
I do hope to see you there.

Having capsized three times at Wembley on Sunday and managed not to break/lose anything (except a battered and bent red burgee which is now consigned to the bottom of the Welsh Harp), will definitely be at Minima on Sunday. Here's hoping for a force 3 northerly or southerly!

Hoping to get there to sail your ex boat the beautiful Deep Thought. We've both been suffering from flu and coughs recently so fingers crossed we are fit enough!

Hope the day goes well.

Just wanted to say thank you to Minima for putting on such a great event. Three exciting races in perfect sailing weather - force 3 south/southwesterly, scudding clouds and sunshine! Four visitors from Tammy, one from Thames and, of course, Ben Archer from Parkstone/ex-Cookham. Well done Ben on coming fourth and winning a prize, and one of your bottles of champagne! Maybe next year Minima will get a few supporters from Hampton/Cookham/Upper Thames/Ranelagh.

Jeremy, I wasn't having a go at you and I did mention that Ben is ex-Cookham in this thread. Just trying to egg the other clubs on a bit. I'd also like to see a few more Merlins from Tammy as well, bearing in mind we have over 50 boats there now! Unfortunately, our class captain Joe McLaughlin, despite the very strong will/desire to go, couldn't due to work commitments that day. Anyway, good to see you on Sunday and I hope you're back on the water very soon. : )

If you look closely you will see my rudder is up as we had just left the beach to go out to the start line. At this point i had not had a chance to work my way to the back of the fleet!!

How do i get my hands on a print of this for my wall then? Or is the original for sale?

My article seems to to be losing its thread!
My main point at this time is that this has been my first entry on the FORUM and has provided considerable entertainment following your replies.
Secondly, that this reply puts it back to the top!!
Last but not least - A special thanks to BEN A. for his support of this event (much more than just turning up) to Richard for his 'Tammy arm twisting' and of course, to all of our visitors.
